World Congress of Peoples in Defense of Mother Earth, Caracas, Venezuela
October 11, 2025
From the heart of the territories in resistance, more than 3,000 national and international delegates from 63 countries around the world gathered in Caracas, Venezuela, on October 9 and 10, 2025, at the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, declare that COP30 in Belém will be the stage where we will demand historic climate justice. We denounce that the Capitalocene—that system that commodifies life—has generated an irreversible metabolic fracture, turning rivers, forests, and living beings into commodities. In the face of this civilizational crisis, we do not come to beg for crumbs from those responsible for the capitalist climate collapse, but to impose our alternatives. In this sense, President Nicolas Maduro called on us to consolidate the world’s eco-socialist social movements in order to “reinvigorate and multiply their capacity for influence” and bring a common voice to COP30. Corrupt: image of Dina Boluarte
As we anticipated in this same space just a few months after Dina Boluarte illegitimately assumed the presidency of Peru, the day came when the parties that “supported” her let her go because she was no longer useful to them. Precisely because she did not govern, she was able to remain “at the head” of the executive branch for so many months. (more…)

This maneuver is not naive; it deliberately seeks to install in our collective imagination the narrative for an invasion of Venezuela, disguised as a “war for freedom.” (more…)

“Silvio in concert or something similar is a good place to start… his songs make me think…” These verses from “Sábado corto,” Pablo Milanés’ ballad popularized in the 1980s, were the mantra of my generation: going out into Havana at night, meeting friends and Silvio Rodríguez in some neighborhood to savor the literary dignity of a part of Cuban popular music that has struggled to make poetry with song lyrics.
